LV - 'Get a Grip' EP

In anticipation of a full album later this year, and following on from 2010's 'Boomslang' collaboration with the same vocalist, 23rd July saw the release of LV's 'Get a Grip' EP on Hyperdub featuring South Africa's very own Okmalumkoolkat.

Production wise, LV brings a somewhat 'reflective' style on production with nods towards genres such as Dancehall (Zulu Compurar), Koduro (Sebenza), Garage and even Breakbeat (Diamonds). However it is the involvement of Okmalumkoolkat on vocals again (he contributes to 3 of the 4 tracks on the EP) that really draws attention to the material.

You can check out the video to the lead single from the 'Get a Grip' EP below. This was first released a month ago, but it was only brought to my attention this week by Charlie Dark courtesy of his NTS show. There is also a video interview with 'Dirty Paraffin' (Okmalumkoolkat and DJ Spizee) after the drop courtesy of The Fader and their visit to SA a couple of years ago.
